We are so pleased to introduce Courtney Adams! Courtney has been a vet tech for 6 years and an active supporter and worker for Dawson Humane Society. Courtney has also assisted Forsyth, Dawson, and Hall County pet owners for 5 years with their pet sitting needs. Courtney shares her home with 3 dogs and will be running classes and private lessons begining November 2008!

Courtney has been a true animal lover since a very young age.  As a child she was always      surrounded by dogs, hamsters, fish, cats and a multitude of small creatures brought in from      outside.  Growing up in a household that loved animals it would have been hard for her to have escaped being a true animal person.

Courtney entered the work force at the age of 16 with her first job being at a veterinary clinic as a kennel assistant in Cumming.  From there she moved on to another animal hospital as a kennel/vet assistant and finally settled into her current position with a local veterinary hospital as a vet assistant.  Courtney performs every job imaginable at the hospital keeping her up close and personal with the patients and their owners.  Courtney has been with the hospital for 6 ½ years now.

As well as working at the hospital, Courtney has had her own business for 5 years doing local pet sitting and offering specialized services for dogs and cats needing medication.  Number of visits and time spent with each animal is           personalized according to the animals needs.  Owners can relax knowing that their animals are being well cared for and loved in their absence.

In 2007 Courtney had the chance to assist Catherine Crabtree with her dog training business, The Furry Academy.  Dog training had long been a special interest for Courtney and she jumped at the chance to assist Catherine with her training classes.  While training Courtney discovered that she truly had a passion and talent for this.

NOW, in 2009 Courtney has become the proud owner of The Furry Academy and is ready to help you with your animal training needs!!

Catherine Crabtree started The Furry Academy, Inc. in 2002 with the mission to “help dogs and their owners communicate clearly to enjoy a more rewarding relationship at both ends of the leash”.  She has worked with over 1,000 dogs through the Academy. Her articles on dog behavior and photos of working dogs have appeared in books, newspapers, and the AKC Gazette. She has lectured on canine behavior at Veterinary Hospitals, Kennel Clubs, and teaches dog training through North Georgia College & State University.
